From an excerpt in this book, the writer writes as follows: "Lack of medical capacity for managing fertility related problems and ignorance has given rise to much suffering and huge financial commitment on the part of those with fertility problem. In Nigeria the women are the ones usually at the receiving end. They are accused of being the cause of infertility; as a result they suffer from all kinds of maltreatment, ranging from verbal abuse to being beating up by their husband and in some cases members of the husband's family. In extreme cases it has led to the divorce of the woman by the husband, usually as a result of heavy pressure from the man's family.
It is based on the above that this work is put together, to enlighten the general public on the cause, prevention and steps to take when infertility stares at one on the face.”
